Utah State’s cornerback, Andre Seldon Jr., tragically passed away at 22 following what appears to be a cliff-diving incident at a local reservoir, as confirmed by the university.
According to the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, Seldon was reported missing after diving into Porcupine Reservoir in Utah and failing to resurface. His body was discovered by the Utah Department of Public Safety dive team on Saturday evening at 9:05 p.m.
Seldon made the move to Utah State this season after transferring from New Mexico State, where he had played for two years. His football journey also included two seasons at Michigan.
Expressing deep sorrow, interim head coach and defensive coordinator Nate Dreiling conveyed in the school’s statement, “Our football community is devastated by the loss of one of our own. Having known Andre from our time at New Mexico State, I can attest to his remarkable character and teammate spirit. Our thoughts and prayers are with Andre’s family as we mourn alongside them in this profound loss.”
