Steelers’ X-Factor? Patterson’s Role in Offense Explained

This season, Cordarrelle Patterson ought to be a key component for the Steelers.

This offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers overhauled their offense, and part of that effort included bringing in Cordarrelle Patterson, who has experience working with new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. In his remarks, Patterson discussed his position with the Steelers and promised to be available whenever required.

According to Steelers Now’s Adam Borst, Cordarrelle Patterson stated, “I’m not coming in here to step on anybody’s toes.” “I understand my part. I am the person they need to do anything they need done since I know what I can provide to this team. I’m here even if they don’t need me until Week 8. To assist these guys in getting begun, I am here.

The Steelers could use Patterson in a number of ways. Patterson may be a weapon out of the backfield or a receiver on offense. Regardless of the quarterback, there will be some continuity there after Arthur Smith from the Atlanta Falcons, which will be beneficial. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields will square off in that match, with Wilson appearing to have the advantage going into training camp.

With the new kickoff regulations this season, it’s an interesting option for the Steelers to use Patterson on returns. One of the stronger returners in the recent ten or so years is Patterson. If the new kickoff regulations function as intended, Patterson should have lots of opportunities to make big plays. It will be intriguing to watch how they are applied on the field.

Cordarrelle Patterson joined the Steelers for what reason?

Patterson had a straightforward explanation for his season-long decision to join the Steelers: the coaches. It was a chance to play for head coach Mike Tomlin and emulate Smith.

Through Borst, Patterson remarked, “Honestly, the coaches.” Arthur the coach and Mike Tomlin. He attended my Pro-Day when I was graduating from college. Our relationship dates back a very long way. Since this was my first time performing for him, it seemed like the right choice.

For players who are unfamiliar with this approach, Patterson will serve as a tutor under Smith’s new offensive scheme. He would gladly take that on with the Steelers.

Through Borst, Patterson stated, “It’s something I know.” I’ve been involved with it for over four years now. Therefore, it was obvious to me that I should join when Arthur approached me about it during the offseason. Since many of the people we did sign who had previously worked with Arthur are somewhat older, our goal is to develop the younger players. We are there to support those soldiers in whatever way we can. We are not here to take anyone’s place or replace anyone. Everybody is aware of their roles.

Even if he doesn’t play much, Patterson should be a valuable offensive weapon for the Steelers and he can contribute to special teams with returns.
