SPORTS: Soccer player Kylian Mbappe is expected to receive a bonus of at least $108 million upon joining Real Madrid.

After completing his much anticipated transfer to Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid, French soccer prodigy Kylian Mbappe is allegedly going to receive a signing-on bonus worth at least £85 million, or $108.4 million, over the following five years.

Mbappe’s contract to play for Real Madrid for the next five seasons was finalized, the club said in a brief statement on Monday. Financial information was not disclosed in the release.

When the 25-year-old World Cup winner’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of June, it is anticipated that he will formally sign with Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Regarding the deal’s financial terms, media accounts differed.

Real Madrid is set to pay Mbappe’s signing bonus in installments throughout the course of his five-year deal, according to a report from Sky Sports on Monday. The amount is slightly over £85 million.

In addition, the BBC said that Mbappe will retain a portion of his image rights in addition to receiving a 150 million euro, or $162.9 million, signing-on bonus spread over the following five years at a rate of 15 million euros every season.

CNBC was unable to independently verify either of the reports.

CNBC’s request for comment was not immediately answered by a Real Madrid representative. Mbappe has also been contacted by CNBC.

Real Madrid’s longtime top target, Kylian Mbappe, declared on social media that joining the team was “a dream come true.”

On Monday, Mbappe posted on the social media site X, saying, “So happy and proud to join the club of my dream @realmadrid.” “Nobody can comprehend my current level of excitement.”

The post included pictures of a young Mbappe visiting Real Madrid and donning a jacket from the team. It was written in Spanish, English, and French. Mbappe was pictured in one of the pictures with five-time Ballon d’Or winner and former Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Shortly after Real Madrid defeated the Barcelona team in the Champions League final for a record-tying fifteenth time, Mbappe’s transfer was confirmed.

Mbappe helped Paris Saint-Germain win the Ligue 1 championship for the tenth time by scoring 44 goals for the team in the previous campaign. For the previous six years, the striker has led all scorers in the top flight of France.
