Tennessee standout Keenan Pili has issued a statement following a heartbreaking season-ending injury during last week’s clash against Florida. Unfortunately, he has been diagnosed with a torn ACL, which will sideline him for the remainder of the season.
Pili was injured in the first quarter of the thrilling overtime victory against Florida and was unable to return to the field. Head coach Josh Heupel later confirmed the news, revealing that the injury would effectively cut his season short.
Pili hopped on social media to send a heartfelt message to his family, friends, fans, and teammates, rallying everyone with two powerful words: “BEAT BAMA!” as they gear up for this week’s highly anticipated Third Saturday in October showdown.

“In my heartfelt message, I want to express my gratitude to my brothers, coaches, and staff for helping me grow as a man both on and off the field. Let’s complete the journey we began together! To my family, including my wife and our soon-to-arrive baby boy, thank you for your sacrifices that have allowed me to pursue my dreams. I hope I’ve made you proud. To the Tennessee community, friends, and fans, thank you for embracing me like family and providing a place I will always cherish. Your love and support have truly meant the world to me during this time.”
“In reflecting on my journey in football, I can’t predict what the future will bring, but I am deeply grateful for all the incredible memories I’ve created along the way. Life can be tough and perplexing, but I thank my Father in Heaven for the opportunity to play this game, and I have faith in His plan for me. It’s the same story, just a new chapter.”
Keenan Pili was having a standout season when he sustained his injury, recording 29 total tackles and two tackles for loss in his second year at Tennessee. He began his collegiate journey at BYU, where he played for four years before transferring to Rocky Top last year.
However, according to Coach Heupel, Pili’s influence extends far beyond just his on-field performance. His presence in the locker room will be felt significantly each game, as he brings an important energy to the team.
“Keenan—I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: no one represents Tennessee better than he does. He’s an outstanding leader and will continue to be a key presence in our program,” Heupel commented. “I’m just heartbroken for him and his family. This is a guy who does everything the right way; he’s truly exceptional—not just as a player, but as a person. His future is incredibly bright.”
