POPULAR: The new anime film from the man behind Chainsaw Man is hailed as a masterpiece in positive initial reviews.

“Look Back… I cried so much I might never be able to watch it again”

After its initial preview screening in Japan, Look Back, the new anime film from the director of Chainsaw Man, is being hailed as a “moving” masterpiece.

Drawing inspiration from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga series of the same name, which appeared on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ in July 2021, the film revolves about Fujino, an overconfident young girl who, through their shared love of illustration, bonds with her introverted small-town neighbor Kyomoto. Working from a screenplay written by Fujimoto himself, Kiyotaka Oshiyama directs. Mizuki Yoshida and Yumi Kawa provide their vocals to the project.

“I attended Look Back’s preview showing! It was so touching that I started crying. It’s incredible. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s emotions were portrayed in the animation, which was also rather good. “Everyone, please watch it,” a fan (via Comicbook.com) remarked in response to the original Japanese text.

“Reflect… One person stated, “I’m so glad I got to see [Look Back],” while another said, “I cried so much I might never be able to watch it again.” I shed tears.

It’s so dramatic, in fact, that those fortunate enough to witness it early had to pull out more durable mop-ups to dry their tears.

“I attended Look Back’s preview showing. Someone wrote, “My handkerchief is soaked,” which gives you a good indication of what to expect from the movie.

On June 18, Look Back will be released in Japan. Although there isn’t currently a release date for the UK or the US, we’ll keep you informed if and when it does. Check out the top anime of the year so far and the newest releases from the largest new anime of 2024 while you wait.
