Dean Kremer became the latest Orioles pitcher to get hurt.
Baltimore Orioles Struggle with Injuries
The Baltimore Orioles have faced significant challenges this season due to injuries, especially within their pitching staff. They lost starting pitchers John Means, Tyler Wells, and Kyle Bradish for the entire season following Tommy John surgery. Recently, Zack Eflin and Grayson Rodriguez have also been placed on the 15-day injured list due to shoulder issues.
In Saturday’s matchup against the Colorado Rockies, Orioles starter Dean Kremer sustained a right forearm contusion after being struck by a line drive. Fortunately, X-rays came back negative, as reported by Luke Jones from WNST Baltimore. However, Kremer had to exit the game, according to Danielle Allentuck of the Baltimore Banner on X.Â
Kremer was hit by a 103 mph comebacker from Jordan Beck of the Rockies. The ball was heading straight for his midsection, and while he was able to block it with his arm, it struck him directly on the forearm before bouncing into the air and being fielded by shortstop Gunnar Henderson for a fielder’s choice.Â
Swelling on Kremer’s arm was immediately noticeable. The Orioles’ head trainer assessed the injury, but the pitcher was ultimately forced to leave the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. The 28-year-old right-hander pitched only 3.1 innings, giving up four runs on six hits, with one walk and three strikeouts before being replaced by Keegan Akin.
