Few musical rivalries have been as intense as that between Noel and Liam Gallagher. Since Oasis’s highly publicized breakup in 2009, the brothers have exchanged barbs for years, leaving many to doubt that this moment would ever arrive. Although both have remained musically active—Liam performing solo and Noel forming High Flying Birds in 2010—the idea of an actual Oasis reunion often seemed like a distant dream.
When the band started teasing something significant yesterday, it sent the internet into a frenzy. A straightforward social media post featuring today’s date (27 August) in Oasis’s logo style appeared on the accounts of both Liam and Noel, as well as the band’s official page. The same graphic was showcased during Liam’s headline performance at Reading on Sunday (25 August), where he dedicated “Half the World Away” to his brother.
Oasis is set to release an expanded reissue of their iconic 1994 debut album, Definitely Maybe, on 30 August, coinciding with its 30th anniversary the day before. This year, Liam Gallagher has also been touring to celebrate the album’s milestone.
