LSU Tigers Receive Injury Updates on Key Wide Receivers

The LSU Tigers’ offense is set to get a significant enhancement on Saturday night.
The outright lead in the SEC is at stake tonight as the 8th-ranked LSU Tigers travel to College Station to face the 14th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies. Both LSU and A&M are the only teams in the SEC that remain undefeated in conference games.
If the high stakes of this matchup aren’t enough to generate excitement, Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and Aggies head coach Mike Elko have been involved in a somewhat mild exchange of comments about the challenges of playing at Kyle Field.
Fortunately for Garrett Nussmeier, he won’t be entering a challenging environment on Saturday night without a full set of offensive tools at his disposal.
LSU wide receiver CJ Daniels is a game-time decision for tonight’s matchup against Texas A&M, as he will warm up and try to play. Meanwhile, WR Chris Hilton Jr. is set to make his season debut after recovering from an ankle injury. Hilton brings significant straight-line speed and the ability to stretch the defense, making him a valuable addition for LSU.
Let’s kick things off with CJ Daniels, who enters LSU’s Week 9 showdown against Texas A&M as the Tigers’ fourth-leading receiver. Last season, Daniels made a splash by surpassing the 1,000-yard mark as the top receiver for a Liberty Flames team that boasted an impressive 13-1 record and even made it to the Fiesta Bowl.
While his time in Baton Rouge hasn’t seen him replicate that level of production just yet, he did shine last Saturday with his best performance of the season, racking up 7 receptions for 86 yards in LSU’s victory over Arkansas. Exciting times ahead as he aims to make an impact against the Aggies!
Chris Hilton Jr. has been a part of the LSU program throughout his entire collegiate journey.
As a redshirt junior, he has seen limited action in his first three years with the Tigers. However, after a standout performance in the ReliaQuest Bowl where he caught 3 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown, expectations were high for him to have a breakout year in 2024. Unfortunately, an ankle injury during fall camp sidelined Hilton… until now. With his speed and talent, fans are eager to see how he will contribute now that he’s back on the field!
