Blonde Phantom

Casting the Blonde Phantom: Who Could Bring This Mystery Hero to Life in the MCU?

MCU Franchise Poster

The Blonde Phantom may make his screen debut in Scarlett Johansson’s upcoming secret Marvel Cinematic Universe film, according to recent rumors. A number of gifted actors are capable of playing the iconic Marvel Comics character. Scarlett Johansson’s return to the MCU as a producer was originally hinted to by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige in 2021, following the premiere of Black Widow and the resolution of Johansson’s contentious legal dispute with Disney. In 2023, Johansson acknowledged in an interview with Comicbook.com that her MCU project is “still happening,” though it’s still unknown what exactly this could entail.

It is still happening. Yes. It is still happening, [but] not currently because nothing is happening right now. We’re all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writers’ strike and potentially our own guild strike, and so on and so forth… Right before the strike, we were in the middle of developing it, and now everything is at a simmer.

After the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023, it is likely that development on Scarlett Johansson’s unnamed MCU project resumed. There have been rumors circulating that this would be the Blonde Phantom’s MCU introduction. Blonde Phantom, a legendary female superhero from 1946’s All Select Comics #11, would be a powerful addition to the MCU, having existed before the majority of the characters who have already been made into live-action films. Naturally, this hasn’t been confirmed, but a number of outstanding performers could potentially play the Blonde Phantom in a live-action role for the first time ever.

Taylor Swift Has Been Widely Speculated About Playing An MCU role

 Cats (2019), Amsterdam (2022), and Valentine’s Day (2010)

Taylor Swift looking surprised in New Girl

Pop sensation Taylor Swift has long been linked to a role in the MCU; according to the latest rumors, she will play Lady Deadpool in the next Deadpool & Wolverine movie. Director Shawn Levy recently declared that Taylor Swift will not be playing Lady Deadpool, allowing her to possibly make her film debut as the Blonde Phantom. Swift has been making her acting debut with recent parts in New Girl, Cats, and Amsterdam after receiving widespread praise as a singer. Despite her lack of acting background, Taylor Swift would be a major attraction for the MCU.

When Taylor Swift was chosen to play the Blonde Phantom, the little-known Marvel hero immediately gained a large following. Swift would be fantastic at both bringing the more action-oriented attitude of the savage Blonde Phantom and balancing the kind and friendly Louise Mason in her civilian existence. Swift is unlikely to desire to play a major part in the MCU given her busy performing schedule, though the Blonde Phantom might be around for a very long time.

Emily Blunt did not get to play Scarlett Johansson in her own MCU role.

A Quiet Place (2018), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), and The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

Emily Blunt working out in Edge of Tomorrow

According to X, Emily Blunt recently declared that declining a part in a superhero film is a “badge of honor” for her. Blunt was, however, among a number of performers vying to play Natasha Romanoff’s Black Widow in the 2010 film Iron Man 2, but she was unable to accept the role because of other contractual obligations. Even while Blunt’s initial enthusiasm for joining the MCU may have faded over time, her incredible career may have prepared her well for her role as the Blonde Phantom.

Emily Blunt is an exceptional actor who has acted in comedies, dramas, thrillers, and action films. Most notably, her potential brilliance in the MCU may have been demonstrated by films like A Quiet Place, Edge of Tomorrow, and Jungle Cruise. Blunt, who is 41 years old, would be able to portray the Blonde Phantom with greater experience, and this assurance would bring a daring and powerful new female character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite Blunt’s “badge of honor” remark indicating that she would not actually be claiming a part in the MCU, this casting would still be creative.

John Krasinski, Emily Blunt’s spouse, made an earlier appearance in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Earth-838’s Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, while Blunt was fan-cast as Sue Storm’s Invisible Woman.

Rebecca Rittenhouse Was Originally Considering Playing A Different Marvel Character

Maggie (2022), Unfriended: Dark Web (2018), and The Mindy Project (2016)

Rebecca Rittenhouse on camera in Unfriended

Although there are many actors who could play the Blonde Phantom, Rebecca Rittenhouse is a less well-known actor who would fit Marvel Studios’ trend of turning unknown actors into household names. Rittenhouse is well-known for her roles in Blood & Oil, The Mindy Project, and Maggie. Her ability to deliver drama and comedy would work well for the Blonde Phantom as a lower-level hero, and her modest appearance would help the Blonde Phantom maintain a balance between heroism and civilian life, much like Clark Kent’s Superman did.

Rebecca Rittenhouse’s casting in the MCU wouldn’t be the actor’s first attempt at a Marvel part. In the 2016 film Deadpool, she was originally considered for the Vanessa part, which ultimately went to Morena Baccarin. For the Blonde Phantom in the MCU, Rittenhouse would be a far better fit, especially with Scarlett Johansson in charge. Rittenhouse was once fan-cast as Julia Carpenter’s Spider-Woman in the MCU, but it would be fantastic to see her take on the role of Louise Mason, the investigator and vigilante.

Sophie Turner May Join The Marvel Cinematic Universe Following Her X-Men Role

Dark Phoenix (2019), Joan (2024), and Game of Thrones (2011)

Sophie Turner in the snow in Game of Thrones

Having played Jean Grey in Fox’s X-Men series from 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse to 2019’s Dark Phoenix, Sophie Turner is no stranger to the world of Marvel. But because none of her X-Men performances was particularly warmly received, she never really had the opportunity to push herself in this character. Turner’s superhero career might be revitalized if she were to play the Blonde Phantom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It would also allow her to portray Louise Grant Mason in a more nuanced, multi-layered, and relatable manner.

X-Men: Apocalypse 2016 Jean Grey
Dark Phoenix 2019 Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix

Sophie Turner has demonstrated her talent in dramas and thrillers such as Game of Thrones, Do Revenge, The Staircase, and Joan, apart from Fox’s X-Men franchise. In the latter, she will play infamous jewel thief Joan Hannington, a mother who transforms into a master criminal in 1980s London and is the ideal opposite of the Blonde Phantom. Given that Hannington is a sophisticated, intelligent, and classy person, Sophie Turner could be the ideal choice to play the secretary-turned-hero in Hannington’s Blonde Phantom.

Because of her amazing career, Elisabeth Moss is the ideal blonde Phantom candidate.

The Handmaid’s Tale (2017), Girl, Interrupted (1999), and Us (2019)

Elisabeth Moss in a habit in The Handmaid's Tale

Considering that celebrated performer Elisabeth Moss has acted in some of the most watched TV series in the past twenty years, it’s surprising that she hasn’t taken on a superhero franchise role already. Moss has experience playing strong, self-assured women, and her appearances in The West Wing, Mad Men, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Shining Girls would greatly help the MCU’s Blonde Phantom. In addition, Moss has won praise for her work in movies where she has starred with other longtime MCU players, including as Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Redford, and Tom Hiddleston.

The Blonde Phantom is ill-prepared, yet all she wants is to do good.

Even though Elisabeth Moss frequently plays complex characters, she excels at making them relatable to viewers. With the Blonde Phantom, who strives to balance being a hero and a civilian while without any superhuman talents at all, she may put these qualities to the test. The Blonde Phantom is ill-prepared, yet all she wants is to do good. Elisabeth Moss would be an excellent choice for the Blonde Phantom, who set the path for many of Marvel’s female heroes in the future. Moss is a self-described feminist.

Previously, Hayden Panettiere portrayed a superpowered hero.

Scream VI (2023), Heroes (2006), and Nashville (2012)

Hayden Panettiere looking up in Heroes

Hayden Panettiere, best known for her leading parts in Nashville and Heroes, has virtually disappeared from the public eye in recent years, most likely as a result of a string of personal setbacks. But Panettiere is eager to get back on the saddle, as she affirmed in a 2023 story by The New York Times, with recent parts in the 2022 film Scream and its 2023 sequel, as well as the upcoming Amber Alert. The best opportunity to give Hayden Panettiere the much-needed boost may be to cast her as the Blonde Phantom in the MCU.

In the film Heroes, Panettiere played cheerleader Claire Bennett, a formidable hero due to her capacity for regeneration. The Blonde Phantom would be a fantastic fit for Panettiere despite lacking any natural superhuman abilities due to her exceptional athleticism and background in hand-to-hand combat. Heroes fans would undoubtedly be thrilled to see Panettiere return to her superhero form, and her portrayal of a strong, independent woman may have been influenced by her own life experiences.

After Stranger Things ends, Millie Bobby Brown might transform into The Blonde Phantom.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Enola Holmes (2020), and Stranger Things (2016)

Millie Bobby Brown with red hair in Damsel

It appears as though Millie Bobby Brown’s casting in the MCU is just a matter of time after she received widespread praise for her performance as Eleven in Netflix’s Stranger Things. Brown had previously tried out for the character of Laura, also known as X-23, in Fox’s X-Men series Logan, but Dafne Keen was chosen for the part. Alternatively, Brown, who is now a little older, might make a great Louise Grant Mason in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brown is ideal for the Blonde Phantom, an extremely physically demanding character for any actor, because of her obvious affinity for action roles.

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is quickly approaching, so this could be the ideal opportunity for Millie Bobby Brown to join the MCU. She has been a well-liked fan-cast for Kitty Pryde from the X-Men, and there have been rumors that she may be in Eternals. Even so, Brown would be able to contribute a youthful spirit to the Blonde Phantom and perform some of the remarkable physical feats that older contenders might not be able to. In the MCU, Brown may position herself for a prosperous and protracted career as the Blonde Phantom.

Blake Lively May Continue Her Husband’s Legacy as a Potent MCU Hero

Gossip Girl (2007), The Shallows (2016), A Simple Favor (2018)

Blake Lively crying in Green Lantern

Blake Lively has also been a well-liked fan-cast for Lady Deadpool from Deadpool & Wolverine, along with Taylor Swift. Even while it would be fantastic to watch Lively play the classic Merc with a Mouth in a female role, this would only be a modest part for the gifted actor. Lively would be a better fit as the Blonde Phantom, giving her the opportunity to play a longer-lasting and more action-packed role in the MCU. She may work alongside Ryan Reynolds for a number of years to come as he is joining the MCU on a permanent basis.

Following their meeting in the critically panned 2011 film Green Lantern, Lively has starred in numerous thrillers, action films, and psychological dramas. Her previous appearances in films like A Simple Favor, The Shallows, and All I See Is You have prepared her well for the role of the Blonde Phantom. Lively would be a fantastic fit for the lead role in Scarlett Johansson’s rumored Marvel movie because of her beauty, sophistication, and complete dedication to action scenes—qualities that the Blonde Phantom in the MCU really needs.

In the live-action films Deadpool (2009, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Deadpool (2016), Deadpool 2 (2018), and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively’s spouse, has played Wade Wilson’s character.

After Madame Web, Sydney Sweeney Deserves Superhero Redemption

Madame Web (2024), Euphoria (2019), and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)

Sydney Sweeney in a Spider-Woman costume in Madame Web

Sydney Sweeney has become increasingly successful after playing Cassie Howard in Euphoria and earning international acclaim for the part. Sadly, Madame Web, Sweeney’s 2024 superhero debut, did not showcase any of these qualities. Nevertheless, this has led to fans casting Sweeney in a number of additional Marvel roles that might provide her a second chance. A potential choice among them would be the Blonde Phantom from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, given her history of dramatic, alluring, and impactful roles demonstrating her acting abilities to embody such a formidable persona.

Although it would be a far cry from Sydney Sweeney’s sulky and shy Julia Cornwall in Madame Web, this could be the ideal role for her. She has demonstrated her ability to play both more action-packed and dramatic roles, like the Blonde Phantom, as well as more subdued and quiet ones, like Louise Mason in her civilian identity. Madame Web might not have been the best way to introduce Sweeney to the superhero genre, but as the Blonde Phantom of the MCU, she might truly shine.

Blonde Phantom Margot Robbie Would Be A Great Choice.

Barbie (2023), Mary Queen of Scots (2018), and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Margot Robbie smoking in Babylon

Following her roles in The Wolf of Wall Street and About Time in 2013, Margot Robbie rose to prominence in Hollywood. She has established herself as a top performer in the industry and a major box office draw thanks to her appearances in I, Tonya, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Mary Queen of Scots, and Barbie. Despite her success, she continues to be drawn to superhero franchises. Given that Robbie played Harley Quinn in the DCEU, the highly regarded actor would be a perfect fit for the MCU.

Margot Robbie was initially cast by fans as Sue Storm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s The Fantastic Four; however, Robbie was able to play the Blonde Phantom after Vanessa Kirby won the coveted part. Given Robbie’s exceptional range as an actor, she would be able to capture all the subtleties and complex psychological qualities of Louise Mason, a character whose double life frequently causes her issues. Scarlett Johansson and Margot Robbie costarred in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, so if Robbie appears in Johansson’s potential Blonde Phantom project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the two may cross paths again.
