One of the top cornerbacks in the country is headed to West Lafayette.
Head Coach Ryan Walters continued his impressive performance with the defensive backfield as he and the Purdue Boilermakers secured a commitment from one of the top high school cornerbacks in the nation the day after Independence Day. Dawayne Galloway, who is ranked as the 9th best cornerback in the country, had narrowed down his choices to Kentucky, Syracuse, West Virginia, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Tennessee, Penn State, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin, and ultimately chose Purdue.
Galloway’s commitment marks the highest-rated addition to the Boilermakers’ 2025 class, which currently has the fewest number of commits in the B1G conference at 11. However, based on the average ranking on 247, Purdue’s recruits would actually have an average ranking of 87.23, putting them ahead of Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Maryland and ranking them 12th in the conference. In terms of national ranking based on this average, the class would currently sit at 36th in the country.
