One of the Demons’ key players won’t be available for at least a month.
JAKE For up to six weeks, Lever will be absent from Narrm’s backfield due to knee surgery for an ongoing issue.
During the team’s bye following round 13, the Demons were considering operating on Lever’s problematic knee; however, those plans were pushed ahead after the defender’s concussion against West Coast.

Lever took an accidental hit to the head from Jack Darling during the first quarter of the Demons’ game against the Eagles, and as a result, was ruled out.
The club decided to move forward with the operation because of the uncertainties surrounding Lever’s concussion rehabilitation, according to Demons high performance manager Selwyn Griffith.
Early Dees disaster as bruising contest sees Lever subbed out
Jake Lever has been removed from the Narrm match as a result of this incident.
“Jake has been dealing with a knee ailment for the past month, and we were considering potentially intervening during the bye to give him the best chance to optimize his rugby towards the conclusion of the year.
We have obviously decided to intervene on that knee because he has entered the concussion protocol and will undoubtedly lose a week, but we are unsure of how quickly he will recover from that.
He underwent surgery today, and everything went smoothly. Now, in addition to undergoing knee rehabilitation, he will go through the concussion protocol in the hopes of returning after the bye.
Due to a rolled ankle sustained against the Eagles, Jake Bowey is also questionable to play against the Saints on Sunday at the MCG. Although the skilled little defender’s scans revealed ligament damage rather than a fracture, he will still need to pass a fitness test later this week.
If he makes it through his last stages of recovery, Jacob van Rooyen (concussion) is expected to make his comeback against the Saints.
