The Miami football program is vying with Florida, Florida State, and Ohio State to secure a commitment from five-star wide receiver Vernell Brown III, who is set to announce his decision on July 21. As of Tuesday, Brown, who ranks as the 26th prospect, sixth WR, and fifth player in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings out of Orlando Jones, has taken official visits to Ohio State, Miami, Florida, and Florida State in that order.
Recent predictions, including one from 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Tom Loy on Tuesday, lean towards Brown committing to Florida, although a prediction in March favored Ohio State. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, there is an 87.8 percent chance of Brown committing to Florida. While Brown has made nine visits to Florida, he has visited Miami the second most, with four visits. Notably, Miami currently does not have a committed WR for the 2025 class.
Furthermore, Miami hosted several other five-star WRs, Jaime Ffrench and Dallas Wilson, in June, demonstrating the program’s ambitious approach to recruiting wide receivers for the 2025 class.
