Avatar: The Last Airbender Casting Toph (Live-Action)

Actors with impaired eyesight or blindness are welcome to apply for Toph in Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Avatar: The Last Airbender is currently developing Season 2 on Netflix, and in advance of the upcoming episodes, the live-action series is holding an open casting call for Toph! Due to the enormous popularity of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix, it was revealed that the live-action series would continue for a total of two seasons, concluding its adaptation of the original animation series. As the show moves into its last two seasons, viewers are most looking forward to some significant new additions that are currently in the development process for these new episodes.

An open casting call has been posted by the casting team behind Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender for the character of Toph, who will make her screen debut in the second season of the original series. The new season’s filming is expected to begin later this fall, and Toph is characterized in the casting call as a character that is “mid-late teens, blind, female, and Asian.” It makes sense that as blindness or limited eyesight is one of the character’s primary characteristics in the original, actors with these conditions are also invited to apply.

Who Is Toph in Avatar: The Last Airbender?

For the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series, Netflix characterizes Toph as “sassy, confident, and unfiltered.” Her power and tremendous earthbending abilities have been suppressed for the majority of her existence, but now that she is on the run as the Avatar’s earthbending master, she is free to unleash her inner fierce warrior. Experience in dance and/or martial arts is advantageous. And put your hat in the proverbial ring if that’s how you feel!

Netflix is currently developing Avatar: The Last Airbender Seasons 2 and 3, however as of the time of this writing, no release date has been set for the upcoming episodes. It won’t be too long before we see the new seasons in action, as this casting request confirms a Fall 2024 start date for filming. It will, at minimum, be a shorter wait than the one for the first season.

Avatar: The Last Airbender’s eight-episode first season is currently available to stream on Netflix. Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, and more actors are among the cast members that star in it.
