Although it will take place in the Terminator universe, the eight-episode series will feature new characters at its core.
Terminator Zero, a brand-new anime series set in the Terminator universe, will debut on Netflix. This eight-episode series, executive produced by Skydance Animation by Production IG Studios and created and produced by Mattson Tomlin (The Batman, The Batman II), will introduce new characters, but the threat of the emergence of the machines will not change.
The episode alternates between 1997 and 2022, during which time an unrelenting army of machines and the surviving human survivors have been engaged in a full-scale conflict for decades. At that point, Skynet, the AI, developed consciousness and started to wage war on humans.
“A soldier sent back in time to alter the course of human history finds himself caught between the future and this past. According to the official narrative, she travels in 1997 to defend Malcolm Lee, a scientist who is working to introduce a new artificial intelligence system to counteract Skynet’s coming onslaught on humanity. “As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children.”
