The vast “Rick and Morty” multiverse has recently expanded. The first teaser for the eagerly awaited anime spinoff series simply titled “Rick and Morty: The Anime” has aired in the hit Adult Swim cartoon series.
The new anime-inspired series will premiere on Adult Swim and HBO Max “sometime this year” with ten episodes, as per the teaser.
The director of the spinoff, Takashi Sano, previously directed the anime shorts “Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil)” and “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider.”
In a previous press release, Sano stated, “The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion.” “Everyone is inspired by this sight, and Jerry is no different. It is a privilege to have the chance to provide a fresh account of this remarkable family. I hope you relish their explorations!
In the teaser for “Rick and Morty: The Anime,” Morty is shown alongside a new species of aliens on a different planet, and they are all happy because he saved their world. In their world, holograms and playthings for the dead are on full display. A building has a sign that reads “Happy Independence Day” and features an image of Morty’s face. The alien species radio announces that Morty is going to be honored. Someone will ultimately burst into tears over this, if the anime is anything like the source material.
Earlier in May, more teases for the next shows were released, such as this glimpse into anime Summer and anime Rick. A behind-the-scenes look at the new voice actors voicing the characters was also presented.
Up to 10 million people have viewed previous episodes on YouTube. This is “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider” in its entirety.
