Tennessee secures a standout linebacker, bolstering their defense with fresh talent!
Tennessee aimed to enhance their 2025 recruiting class with an additional linebacker, and they succeeded on Thursday night! The Volunteers successfully flipped in-state recruit Brenden Anes from Wisconsin, marking their third linebacker addition for the current class.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker is currently ranked as the 584th player in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite, making him the 20th best player in Tennessee and the 61st linebacker in this recruiting cycle. Hailing from Franklin, Tennessee, Anes plays at Fred J Page High School.
Tennessee was the first to extend an SEC offer to Anes about a year ago, but Wisconsin quickly entered the picture. After committing to the Badgers in January, the Volunteers continued to pursue him. His visit to Knoxville during the Florida game weekend made a significant impact, leading to his decision to flip to Tennessee just weeks later. This is another noteworthy victory for linebackers coach William Inge.
Anes adds to a strong linebacker group that already includes four-star prospects Christian Gass and Jaedon Harmon. He becomes the 23rd commitment in a class that is currently ranked among the top ten in the country, with just over a month remaining before the early signing period.
