Exclusive: Golden Knights Stay Perfect, Ducks Snap Losing Streak

In the third period, Vegas center Tomas Hertl finds the net, sneaking a shot past Ducks goaltender James Reimer. What a thrilling moment for the team!

LAS VEGAS — The Vegas Golden Knights secured a 3-1 victory over the Ducks on Sunday night, with goals from Brett Howden, Tomas Hertl, and Pavel Dorofeyev. Ilya Samsonov made an impressive debut, recording 22 saves for Vegas.

Troy Terry netted the sole goal for the Ducks, while James Reimer turned away 29 shots.

With this win, Vegas improved to a perfect 3-0-0 for the season, marking their fifth time achieving such a start since joining the NHL in 2017. The Knights also solidified their dominance over the Ducks, boasting a 24-7-1 all-time record against them, including an outstanding 14-3-0 at home.

After a strong victory against San Jose the previous night, the Ducks struggled in their second game of the season, feeling the exhaustion from back-to-back matchups. Vegas outshot the Ducks 32-23, showcasing their offensive power.

Though Terry scored in the first period, Samsonov quickly settled in, making key saves, including a crucial stop against Trevor Zegras on a breakaway early in the second.

During a Ducks penalty kill, they found themselves shorthanded when Isac Lundestrom lost his stick and couldn’t regain control. Taking advantage of the situation, Mark Stone set up Hertl for a perfect one-timer, marking Hertl’s first goal of the season and sealing the game-winner.

Overall, Vegas has scored an impressive 15 goals in their first three games, the highest total in franchise history for a season’s opening stretch.
