Artemi Panarin’s Preseason Injuries and Return
The New York Rangers’ superstar, Artemi Panarin, had an unfortunate preseason spell, having to step off the ice due to injuries not once, but twice. Despite coming off a stellar regular season in the NHL, these unexpected setbacks meant Panarin’s training camp and preseason were less than ideal.
Back on the Ice, Ready for the Season Opener
Monday brought good news for the Rangers and their fans, as Panarin made a promising return to practice just in time for the season’s first face-off against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday. Head coach Peter Laviolette expressed optimism about Panarin’s readiness for the game, although he didn’t make any definitive statements. “He made it through the practice today without any issues,” Laviolette reported, according to USA Today’s Vince Mercogliano, adding, “That’s a positive.”
Panarin’s Determination to Play
Panarin himself, however, left no room for speculation about his fitness for the opener. “I feel good right now,” he declared, “I hope I’m good to go.” After missing five days due to a lower-body injury, his assertiveness comes as a relief, clearing up any uncertainty about his availability for Wednesday’s game.
Practice with Usual Linemates
After a thorough practice session with his regular linemates – Vincent Trocheck at center and Alexis Lafreniere on right wing – Panarin seems poised and ready to take on the Penguins on Wednesday. The Rangers’ top forward line is back in full strength, and the anticipation for the season opener is now even more intense.

Panarin’s Preseason Exits
Artemi Panarin’s preseason was marked by two early exits. He left the game against the New Jersey Devils after just four shifts as a precautionary measure, and he didn’t participate in the team’s preseason finale against the New York IslandersÂ
Injury Updates for Ryan Lindgren and Jimmy Vesey
While Panarin’s return is a positive development, the Rangers are dealing with uncertainty regarding two other players: Ryan Lindgren and Jimmy Vesey. Both players have officially been placed on injured reserve (IR) as the season begins. Lindgren’s placement on IR follows a preseason altercation with Scott Mayfield, and he continues to skate independently as he works towards a comeback. Vesey, on the other hand, suffered a lower-body injury during practice and has been placed on long-term injured reserve (LTIR). This means Vesey will miss at least 10 games, adding to the challenges the Rangers face  as the season gets underway.
