Conor McGregor's former sparring partner reveals freak injury in training

McGregor’s sparring partner reveals shocking training injury…

Brisbane boxer Conor Wallace recently had a close call that could have ended his fighting career, and he’s counting his blessings as he prepares for a critical world-title eliminator. In an unexpected twist during a training session two weeks ago, the boxing ring collapsed while he was sparring, sending him crashing into a window!

Wallace, who once trained alongside UFC superstar Conor McGregor, was left stunned by the incident, but remarkably, he didn’t let it stop him. As his manager, Steve Deller, recounted to News Corp, “It was a bloody shock. The ring collapsed, and Conor went flying through the window, smashing it with his elbow!”

Despite the potential for a serious injury—he could have severed a tendon—Wallace powered through. With only a few cuts on his arm, he shrugged off the shock and opted to continue training. “He got up and said, ‘Let’s keep going,’ and jumped into the next ring to box on,” Deller added, reflecting on their surprising luck.

Now, Wallace is set to face Jerome Pampellone in a light-heavyweight bout at the ICC Theatre in Sydney on Wednesday night, more determined than ever!

“That’s the essence of Conor—he’s tough as nails and absolutely driven to win this fight and secure a shot at the world title!”

Wallace made it clear that nothing, not even a ring malfunction, would derail his training for the upcoming bout. “When the ring snapped and I went through the glass, it didn’t faze me at all,” he shared with determination.

“It could have been a lot worse, but thankfully I didn’t need any stitches, and I’m feeling good now. I’m so close to that world-title shot—I’ve been dreaming of this moment since I was a kid!”

If Wallace clinches victory on Wednesday night, he might soon be stepping into the ring with the likes of Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol!

Meanwhile, in the main event, Nikita Tszyu is gearing up for the biggest challenge of his career as he faces off against fellow Sydneysider Koen Mazoudier. This is one night of boxing you won’t want to miss!
