Michigan football is making efforts to secure the commitment of five-star recruit David Babalola, and this is the current status as reported by a few recruiting analysts.
Michigan football’s recruiting has been very exciting lately. On Monday, the Wolverines secured commitments from two recruits who are ranked within the top 118 overall, and this happened within an hour of each other, which was quite an impressive achievement. While Michigan football is not yet recruiting at its full potential, Sherrone Moore and his staff have faced challenges.
After winning the national championship, Michigan football was in a state of uncertainty regarding the head coach. There were speculations about Jim Harbaugh leaving for the NFL, and after his departure, Michigan had to act swiftly. However, Moore didn’t lead the team for most of the 2025 recruiting cycle, and many of his assistants were also hired later in the process.
Building relationships is a significant aspect of recruiting, in addition to NIL, and Michigan football entered this phase relatively late. Nevertheless, they have performed exceptionally well in the 2025 class, securing three top-100 commitments already, with the potential for more to come.
This week, Andrew Marsh received a new prediction favoring Michigan football. Additionally, there are rumors that Andrew Babalola, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound tackle from Kansas who is ranked 27th overall in the 2025 class, is close to making a decision. Stanford and Michigan are the top two contenders for his commitment, and on The Michigan Insider recruiting podcast, several individuals expressed their belief that if they had to choose now, Babalola would likely pick the Wolverines.
Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider stated that a quick decision would work in favor of U-M, saying, “I would too. Right now, today, I think a quick decision, a near decision favors Michigan. So, if he does decide soon, I think he’d go blue and that would be a massive acquisition. I’m trying to think of who’s comparable along the offensive line to that acquisition.”
