In February 2021, Washington secured a commitment from Ja’Lynn Polk, a former Texas Tech wide receiver. Polk played a vital role in Washington’s successful 2022 and 2023 seasons, tallying 1,967 yards, 16 touchdowns, and even reaching the College Football Playoff championship game.
Building on their Red Raider connections, the Huskies are now welcoming another standout player.
Coach Jedd Fisch and Washington added their 19th commitment for the 2025 recruiting cycle, as three-star cornerback Ramonz Adams from Bastrop High School in Texas pledged his commitment on Tuesday. With the current recruiting class ranked 19th in the nation, UW continues to strengthen its roster.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 160 pounds, Adams made the decision to commit to Washington over scholarship offers from various schools like Arizona, Boston College, Houston, and his previous commitment at Texas Tech. Despite being committed to the Red Raiders since November 19, 2023, Adams decided to reopen his recruitment on June 17, just before visiting UW on June 21.
Ranked as the No. 70 cornerback nationally and the No. 131 player in Texas by 247Sports composite rankings, Adams is a versatile athlete who engages in multiple sports. Alongside football, he also competes in basketball and excels in track and field, particularly in high jump, long jump, and triple jump disciplines.
In Washington’s recruiting efforts, Adams becomes the second cornerback to commit, following three-star prospect D’Aryhian Clemons from Spanaway who pledged on June 24. Notably, Adams is the sole Texan recruit in Washington’s current recruiting class.
Having started his high school football journey at Smithville High School, a Class 4A school near Bastrop, Adams displayed his skills playing quarterback, wide receiver, and cornerback in his initial three years of high school.
In his sophomore year, he recorded 37 tackles, which included two tackles for a loss, in 11 games. Moreover, he managed to secure an interception and a fumble recovery. As a junior, Adams contributed with 25 tackles across 10 games and impressively snagged eight interceptions.
Looking ahead to the 2024 season, Washington’s cornerback unit is youthful and somewhat inexperienced, apart from juniors Ephesians Prysock and Elijah Jackson, as well as senior Thaddeus Dixon. Dixon is anticipated to use up his eligibility by the end of the 2024 campaign.
Coach John Richardson lacks sophomores on his team roster due to the fact that Washington recruited just one player, Jaivion Green from Texas, in the swiftly organized 2022 recruiting class under Kalen DeBoer. Green entered the transfer portal on January 12, coinciding with DeBoer’s departure to Alabama, and subsequently made his way to Stanford.
Nonetheless, the Washington squad features four redshirt freshmen cornerbacks: Curley Reed III, Leroy Bryant, Caleb Presley from Rainier Beach, and Jordan Shaw, who initially played for Indiana before transferring to Arizona and eventually joining Fisch and Richardson at Montlake. They are complemented by true freshmen Elias Johnson and Rahshawn Clark, the latter being a former standout from Garfield High School skilled in both offense and defense.
In addition to Clemons and Adams, the current projections suggest that the University of Washington is on track to secure three-star cornerback LaRue Zamorano from Centennial High School in Corona, California, according to the insights of 247Sports recruiting analysts. Zamorano, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound defensive player, included Washington among his final seven school choices alongside Oregon, Penn State, Kansas, Michigan State, USC, and Arizona on May 14. He visited UW on June 21 along with Clemons and Adams.
Extra points:
Washington was unable to secure the commitment of three-star offensive tackle Elijah Vaikona from Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Southern California this past Tuesday. The 6-foot-8, 368-pound lineman opted for USC over Washington and UCLA.
Moreover, the Huskies did not succeed in recruiting four-star edge rusher Chinedu Onyeagoro from King Drew Medical Magnet High School in Los Angeles, as he chose SMU on Monday. Onyeagoro had previously indicated on June 21 that he would not be visiting UW as originally planned, making a commitment to Washington unlikely even though it was among his final four schools along with Florida and UCLA.
