“So I sent them the song and they told me, ‘OK, you gotta change some words'”
Ahead of her third album, “Megan,” which is out today (June 28), the rapper addressed fans on an Instagram Live broadcast as she prepared for the Dallas stop of her Hot Girl Summer tour.
The musician, real name Megan Pete, talked about the difficulties she had when creating “Otaku Hot Girl,” which uses a clip of the theme song from the commercial breaks of the popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen.
Adam McArthur, the English voice actor for Yuji Itadori, the protagonist of the series, opens the song with the line, “I like a tall woman with a nice big ass (Haha) / Just sayin’ / Like Grammy winner, Megan Thee Stallion.”
Pete claimed that in order to please MAPPA, the production firm behind the renowned anime, she had to “jump through eight million hoops.”
Thee Stallion said, “So I sent them the song and they told me, ‘OK, you gotta change some words.'” “Okay, cool,” I said, changing a few words. Then they said, “Okay, you cannot cosplay any of the characters in the show if you shoot a video to this song.” I thought, “Okay, cool!” I will not do that. I abide by the regulations. I really want the music.
The record has already been “turned in” and is prepared for release, Megan subsequently disclosed. She did, however, mention that early this week, her team received an email informing them that they could “have the name clearance or the music clearance.” After then, Megan screamed in jest because she was frustrated.

“What?” “Take out the names of the characters that [are] in the show?” Pete continued. That’s the full song, screaming! That clarifies the meaning of the song, I yell.
“Megan” was released under her own label, Hot Girl Productions, and is now available. The tracklist includes cameos by Victoria Monét, GloRilla, UGK (featuring a verse from the late Pimp C), and more. Her earlier hits, “Cobra,” “Hiss,” and “Boa,” are also anticipated to be included on the album.
Megan’s 2022 album “Traumazine,” which NME gave four stars to, is the follow-up, “Megan.”
The review stated, “There should be only one feeling coursing through your body: utter elation, after ‘Traumazine’s 18 tracks.” “The album showcases Megan Thee Stallion’s broad musicality and demonstrates her growth since ‘Good News,’ with more in-depth tracks than one might anticipate from a record from her.”
Prior to the release of “Megan,” Pete and her management company, Roc Nation, were accused of harassing Emilio Garcia, the rapper’s former camera man, and fostering a hostile work environment. Garcia filed a lawsuit against the rapper.
In July, Megan Thee Stallion will embark on a European and UK tour. Here are links to additional information and a list of any tickets still available.
In other news, Tyler, The Creator had to withdraw from this year’s Lollapalooza due to personal circumstances, and Thee Stallion took his position as the main act.
