Rapper Drake hasn’t had much luck lately when it comes to his sports betting predictions. He lost $1 million when he bet on the Edmonton Oilers to defeat the Florida Panthers in the NHL Stanley Cup Final and the Dallas Mavericks to win the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.
Drake lost a half-million dollar wager on the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final and a half-million dollar wager on the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals.

When Boston won its 18th NBA championship by defeating the Mavericks in five games, Champagne Papi lost that wager. In the event that the Mavericks won their first championship since 2011, Drake would have received $1.375 million.
The online phenomenon known as the “Drake Curse,” which holds that teams and athletes lose more frequently than not when the rapper bets on them or openly supports them, is only strengthened by these two betting defeats.
Drizzy was also denied a $1 million payment following Tyson Fury’s defeat by Oleksandr Usyk in a heavyweight boxing match.
Maybe the five-time Grammy Award winner’s gamble meant that even though the Oilers overcame a 3-0 series deficit to force a Game 7, the Canadian team was still doomed to lose.
Conor McDavid, the standout forward for Edmonton who earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as the NHL playoff MVP, helped the Oilers survive the series with three goals and five assists in Games 4 and 5.
In the Stanley Cup Final, the Oilers would have become only the second club in NHL history to overcome a 3-0 deficit if they had prevailed in Game 7. The only other team in league history to do so is the Toronto Maple Leafs of 1942.
In addition, Drake lost a significant amount of money when he placed a wager on Tyson Fury defeating Oleksandr Usyk in a heavyweight boxing match on May 18.
The singer of “Rich Baby Daddy” lost out on a $1 million compensation as a result of Usyk’s win.
