Buckingham Palace announced that the Princess Royal suffered minor injuries and a concussion after an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening.
Britain’s Princess Anne is in the hospital after sustaining minor head injuries and a concussion, believed to have been caused by a horse kick on her Gatcombe Park estate. Anne, a former Olympic medalist in equestrian events, was strolling on her Gloucestershire estate on Sunday evening when the incident occurred.
After receiving initial medical care at the estate, emergency services transported the princess to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for further tests, treatment, and observation.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace mentioned, “The Princess Royal has suffered minor injuries and a concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening. Her Royal Highness is currently at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precaution for observation and is expected to recover fully and quickly.”
“The King has been continuously updated and, along with the entire royal family, sends his warmest love and best wishes to the princess for a speedy recovery.”
The exact cause of the injuries has not been confirmed, but Anne’s medical team has indicated that her head injuries align with the possibility of being caused by a horse’s head or legs.
It is believed that the 73-year-old princess was walking within the secure boundary of the Gatcombe Park estate when the incident occurred.
Her husband, Vice Admiral Tim Laurence, who was present on the estate at the time, accompanied her to the hospital.
A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace stated, “Her Royal Highness is recuperating well, is in a comfortable condition, and is being kept in the hospital as a precaution for further observation.”
The spokesperson added, “Her Royal Highness is under the care of experts. No additional details are being disclosed at this time. Her Royal Highness will remain in Southmead Hospital unless or until advised otherwise by her medical team.”
Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall and son Peter Phillips were also present on the estate at the time, but it’s unclear who alerted the authorities.
