It looks like it will be another two years before we see another season of Bridgerton. Have researchers discovered a means to accelerate time yet? I will not be able to wait until 2026 to find out what really happens to the Bridgerton crew!
Sadly, Bridgerton supporters, we’re going to have to wait it out. However, we can pass the time while we wait for the next season to premiere by speculating about what might be included. It’s now time to share with you, dear reader, what we hope to see more of and less of in Bridgerton Season 4.
Some personalities aren’t on our list because they receive just the appropriate amount of attention already. Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and her charmingly strange family, the Featheringtons, ought to continue being as active as they are as Lady Whistledown. Although I love seeing Kate (Simone Ashley) and Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) canoodling, they are no longer the major emphasis of Bridgerton. Nevertheless, they are still occasionally present.
However, we would want to see a bit more of a few Bridgertons and other Ton inhabitants in Season 4, and there are a good number who could use a lot less screen time. With *spoilers for the Season 3 finale* ahead, this is everything we hope to see from the upcoming season of Bridgerton.
-With Season 3, Benedict Bridgerton was taken out of chronological sequence in the original works, therefore a season centered around him is long overdue. I completely agree with my colleague Laura Bradley’s beautifully written piece, “Why the Next Season Should Be Belong to the Second Bridgerton Brother,” unless…
-Victor Alli’s character John Stirling and Hannah Dodd’s character Francesca might also take the lead. Because she now seems to be bisexual, Francesca is by far the most fascinating Bridgerton child at this moment. John and Michaela are Francesca’s two romantic interests (Masali Baduza). I can’t wait to watch how this develops.
-Queen Charlotte was scarce in Season 3, despite receiving an entire spinoff explaining why she is the greatest of all time. She should resist Whistledown, in my opinion. Allow her to launch a gossip column to compete with Whistledown. She ought to participate more in love tales and balls, much like she did in Season 1 when she attempted to force a romantic relationship on Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor). One of the best characters on a program about gossip, Judgy Queen Charlotte, should show off her shady side even more!
-Where on earth is Regé-Jean Page, Duke of Hastings? I understand that Page left the program to work on other ambitious initiatives; excellent for him, but I haven’t yet seen one of those ambitious endeavors succeed. It’s time for him to make an appearance with Daphne if he’s not revealed as James Bond by Season 4. While Simon and Daphne are nowhere to be seen, Kate and Anthony are doing a fantastic job of staying in the background of the show. Oh no!
What We Want Less Of: Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell) is my favorite mother bear, but I don’t give a damn about her love story. Do I want her happiness to last? Of course! Does she get along with Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis), the brother of Lady Danbury (Adjoa Anjoh)? Not at all! A prequel series on her romance with Edmund Bridgerton, though, is something I would definitely watch. After you give it to me, we can chat.
-Okay, so why should we give the Mondrichs any thought if Simon isn’t here? Although Simon’s buddies appear like good times, neither Alice (Emma Naomi) nor Will (Martins Imhangbe) are ever involved in any of the show’s major plots. More involvement with the Bridgerton family is something I would not be against! But they need more screen time with the primary characters, not simply with each other, if we are to take an interest in this (beautiful, nevertheless) relationship.
-I wrote about how much I love Eloise (Claudia Jessie) and Cressida’s (Jessica Madsden) queer-coded friendship, but with the rollout of the second batch of Season 3 episodes, I’m now starting to get the sense that these two will never be an official thing. How agitating. While Eloise was a fun character from the start, Bridgerton seems to be confused about what to do with her character. For now, we could use a break from the Eloise and Cressida train.
-Sorry guys, I have to say it: Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) is so off-putting. He is hot and marvelous and enchanting when he’s flirting with Pen, but when he’s on his own, he loses the charm. Penelope carried this season (I’ll admit, I was wrong to have my doubts heading into Season 3), and now that we’re over and out, Bridgerton can dial it back with the whole Colin shtick. Anthony and Benedict are the hot, endearing ones. Show us more of them instead!
