Unsigned CForward drops Trade Hint, Sparking AFL Frenzy

The 22-year-old has been connected to several opposing teams.

Off-contract Sydney forward Logan McDonald may make his decision this week; a call from the Swans star is reportedly “imminent.”

The 22-year-old is still unsigned for the upcoming campaign as he and the organization work through the possibility of a contract extension in the face of rumors of continued interest from opposing teams.

McDonald is a native of Bunbury, Western Australia, and has ties to both of the clubs from there, even if his current contract is about to expire.

Early in the 2022 season, McDonald was reportedly being watched by opponents in just his second season after Sydney selected him with the fourth pick in the draft. This led to the negotiation of the deal.

More interest in McDonald has been projected for 2024 due to an impending contract call; however, form forward units at West Coast and Fremantle have also hinted that both teams may be looking to expand their rosters elsewhere.

In lieu of injured co-captain Oscar Allen, Athletic Eagles attacker Jake Waterman is surprisingly vying for the Coleman Medal this year, and Josh Treacy of Fremantle is having a breakthrough year alongside fellow talls Jye Amiss and Luke Jackson.

The Swans are said to have stepped up their negotiations with McDonald in order to get closer to a finalized agreement, even if both teams may have lost interest.

Daniels stated on Monday, “There has been a lot of talk about Logan McDonald the last couple of years.”

Is he going to return to Fremantle? Is he planning to travel to the West Coast? Would he remain in Sydney?

“I think the news that he will remain in Sydney will be announced soon. I believe we could witness it even this week.

“I think that’s a good thing for everybody.”

McDonald’s anticipated re-signing would seal Sydney’s ideal retention period, as the team started the year without five important players under contract until 2025.

Errol Gulden, the Swans’ best midfield player, signed a new contract that runs until the end of 2028. James Rowbottom (2028) and Oliver Florent (2029) also signed long-term deals.

Last week, free agent Will Hayward reaffirmed his commitment to remain in New South Wales till the end of 2029, despite strong interest from a number of opposing clubs.

A few important Swans players, including Harry Cunningham, Robie Fox, and former first-round selection Jacob Konstanty, are still without contracts through 2024.

star ball winner Even if Chad Warner’s contract expires at the end of the following year, resigning is a priority for him as well.
