According to a New York Post article, relief pitcher Jorge Lopez of the New York Mets, who was ejected from Wednesday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers and hurled his glove into the seats as he left the field, is blaming the media for his dismissal from the Major League Baseball club.
After the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the team 10-3 at Citi Field on Wednesday, Lopez was cited as stating, “I think I’ve been on the worst (expletive) team in Major League Baseball.”
Late on Wednesday, the Mets designated Lopez for assignment and released him. The official release is anticipated to happen later on Thursday.
In the eighth inning, Lopez got into a heated argument with third base umpire Ramon De Jesus over a checked swing appeal, which led to his dismissal from the game. Before Lopez could reach the dugout, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza led him off the field and threw his glove into the stands.

Lopez said on his Instagram Story that he meant to say “teammate” rather than “team.”
Lopez posted on the social media site, “Whoever hear me, I said teammate and what I said on the situation I been the worst teammate thanks media for making it worse.”
In 28 appearances this season, the 31-year-old Lopez has a 1-2 record, 3.76 ERA, and two saves.
The Mets had signed Lopez to a $2 million, one-year contract. Any Major League Baseball team that is eligible to claim his services will be able to claim him off waivers.
With a 22-33 record, the sinking Mets are 16 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies in first place in the National League East. They have only won two of their previous ten games.
